Monmouth is a Welsh border town with a bustling main street and is only 2.5miles from Staunton.
It is best known as the birth place of Henry V. The 13th Century Monnow bridge is the only gated bridge of its type in Britain.

Walking in the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean

Numerous way marked routes include long distance trails like Offa’s Dyke Path and Wye Valley Walk or  easier routes such as the12 Easy Circular Walks that are suitable for everyone. The Sculpture Trail is a few miles walk perfect for all ages and abilities.

 

The Wye Valley and Forest of Dean offers some excellent fishing both on the River Wye itself and also on some of the wonderful still water ponds and lakes in the Forest of Dean.

 

Cycling

The Forest of Dean & Wye Valley provides varied terrain and scenery and it is perfect for cyclists of all abilities with family biking trails and mountain biking routes

The river Wye is perfect for beginners to canoe & kayak, although its fast rapid waters at Symonds Yat will excite the more experienced enthusiast.
