Introduction Staunton is the first village in The Forest of Dean when approached from Monmouthshire, sited high up above Monmouth & the Wye Valley. The English-Welsh border & Offa's Dyke path pass close to the village. A short walk to the Buckstone just one of the standing stones of the area affords views right across to the Welsh hills. In spring the local woods are filled with a carpet of bluebells, whilst in autumn the reds and yellows of the trees are stunning. The local area offers a wide range of outdoor pursuits - cycling using the marked trails in the Forest, canoeing at Monmouth & Symonds Yat, fishing on the Wye - as well as an abundance of visitor attractions - Tintern Abbey, the Forest of Dean Steam Railway, Symonds Yat, Clearwell Caves, Puzzle Wood & Chepstow Castle. Within easy driving distance are Hereford and Gloucester cathedrals, Bristol, Cheltenham, the Cotswolds and the Brecon Beacons.

Outside The lovely garden is ideal for alfresco dining. Have a BBQ on the paved patio area. A couple of wooden picnic tables complement the garden so you can choose to sit in the sun or on the lawn under the shade of a beautiful copper beech tree, whilst just a short walk away is the White Horse the first and last Inn in England, serving excellent food and providing a small local shop. A free-form pond attracts wildlife and birds into the garden. The adjacent field brings the countryside right up to the door. Wild flowers edge the garden & encourage insect life. Feed the birds & watch them from the comfort of your armchair. For Relaxation An abundance of activities are available, both in the Forest and on the River Wye. Many walks can be started from the doorstep but it is also ideally situated for cycling, fishing, bird watching and golf. A short drive away is the bustling town of Monmouth. It's an ideal location to spend a break at anytime of year.
